About This Video

The Samuel Halsey Jr. Project tells two distinct tales. First, the film follows World War II veteran Samuel A. Halsey, Jr. as he matriculates into Georgetown’s class of 1953 as the University’s first black undergraduate. That exploration leads to another big question: how far has Georgetown come in the past 60 years? Halsey was an image of civil rights era bravery, but how has Georgetown changed since his time?
