Requiem Mass – For Souls of Faithfully Departed

Upcoming Event:

February 28, 2020 (Friday):  6 pm Latin Mass – – Copley Crypt Chapel (Map below). Celebrant is Fr. Stephen Fields. The GU Schola Cantorum will sing all of the Ordinaries and Propers.  The congregation is encouraged to learn and join in singing the Ordinaries and responses. Click on “Requiem- Congregation” Tab for music and select audios. Music and translations will be provided at the Mass.

The University’s Music Program continues to offer instruction to students, faculty, and staff of Georgetown University who are interested in learning Gregorian chant. Women and men of all faiths are welcome to attend one or all sessions.  This Mass is the first event for the Spring 2020 semester.  Primary rehearsals are on Tuesdays 6:00 to 7:15 pm (with alternative meetings on most Thursdays 6:00 to 7:00 pm).

Start:  January 14, 2020

The University’s Music Program will continue to offer instruction to students, faculty, and staff of Georgetown University who are interested in learning Gregorian chant. Women and men of all faiths are welcome to attend one or all sessions.

Goals include:
• Learn how to read notation and discover various types of chants
• Sing in group or master a solo piece

Sing at Latin Mass in Copley Chapel

  • February 28, 2020 (Friday) 6 pm – Requiem Mass for the Souls of the Faithfully Departed 
  • April 25, 2020 (Saturday) 5 pm – Vigil Mass for the 3rd Sunday of Easter

Choir field trip:  March 15 (Sunday)  4 pm – Durufle Requiem – City Choir of Washington at St. Luke Catholic Church.

Compline Nov. 14, 2019

November 14 (Thursday) 6:30 to 7:45 pm –  McNeir Auditorium.  All welcome.  Fr. Stephen Fields will provide a brief introduction. We will then review the order of the service and music.  At the end we will sing all of Compline in McNeir Auditorium. All welcome to sing (or listen).
