The Rapid Microorganism Identification Database (www.RMIDb.org) hosted by the Pineda Lab at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health has been temporarily shutdown. JHSPH has been hit my a number of SQL injection attacks recently, and as I read more about them, the more I became concerned about my ability to vouch for the ugly perl code in the bowels of the RMIDb middle tier. I have made a first pass at patching the code and am currently doing a rebuild of the underlying relational database of sequence data – look for the RMIDb to resurface in about a month with more organisms, species, and genomes hosted on the Edwards Lab cluster (the URL will remain the same).
Computers codon, tandem, and trypsin installed in the Edwards Lab research cluster. These Dell 1950 III Power Edge servers have two quad-core Xeon processors and 16Gb of RAM each. These machines bring the total number of available CPUs in the Edwards Lab cluster to 64.
