Renovation of former Jesuit Residence Beginning May 19

Ryan Hall

As part of our effort to create a more residential living and learning campus, we are converting the former Jesuit Residence (Ryan and Mulledy Halls) to a new student residence for fall 2015. The first phase of renovation will begin after commencement exercises on Monday, May 19th, 2014.

This work will include demolition of interior portions of the building and the removal of asbestos-containing materials. We will work with Manhattan Construction Corporation and ensure that all work is performed in accordance with necessary health and safety requirements. The former Jesuit Residence buildings will be sealed off during this activity and there is no risk to adjacent building occupants. Detailed information about asbestos removal is available here.

The first phase of renovation will be completed over the summer. In an effort to complete the work as quickly as possible, the work hours will span two shifts, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We expect that the work will be loud at times. We know that some of our employees and students may be inconvenienced by the construction, and we thank you in advance for your patience as we complete this important work.

In the coming weeks we will provide a more detailed construction schedule and plans to celebrate the groundbreaking for the renovation of this historic space.
