Now eight years after the Language Access Act was passed here in DC a report was released last month prepared by the American University Washington College of Law Immigrant Justice Clinic, based on information and data collected by the DC Language Access Coalition. A panel was held with government and civil rights agencies represented for community members to discuss issues in carrying out the act such as funding, matching language varieties and dialects of interpreters with interpretees, and a continuous overlooking by many institutions of the importance of language access.
