We are proud to feature Arielle Hixson as the May Alumna of the Month. Arielle is a field producer for NBC New York and a 2013 graduate of the program. She is a co-founder of DC Music Live (@DCMusicLive), which started in a Digital Essentials course with fellow classmates and provides information about local music happenings in D.C.
MPS Journalism: Why did you choose to attend Georgetown’s Journalism program? How did you hear about us?
Arielle Hixson: I first heard about Georgetown’s Journalism program senior year of undergrad. I saw a flyer about the program in my school’s career office and immediately had to investigate. At the time, I was considering graduate programs with extremely large journalism schools. Georgetown’s Journalism program stood out because it was small, and the professors were experienced journalists who knew a lot about the field. Georgetown was definitely meant to be, and now being a working journalist I am extremely glad I made the decision to go there.
