  • class and race in terms of neighborhoods, fans
  • its documentary form with a specific perspective

Let the Great World Spin

  • location vs. locale vs. sense of place (how building of stadium changed all that)
  • how new teams are reacted to when they come to Los Angeles, what happens when they leave
  • point of view – how stories and representations can change based on whose side you are hearing from (teams either a positive or negative impact on society depending on who you talk to)


  • we end up up with signifiers but nothing signified: almost nothing in Los Angeles is original, including sports
  • city as a center of economy, politics, and culture
