VILLA LE BALZE: I will be teaching one course at Georgetown University’s Villa Le Balze in Florence, Italy, in Spring 2018. Georgetown Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are all welcome to apply to attend the villa. The course is GOVT 244: Italian Democracy in Comparative Perspective, and will cover comparative forms of democracy with special attention to European and especially Italian politics. More information here, here, here, and here.
RESEARCH: My research interests are in political parties and ideology, principally but not limited to the United States. This includes work on measuring and assessing the role of ideology in coalition building and partisan conflict, on the role of parties in especially presidential nomination politics, and on understanding parties as networks of policy demanders.
LECTURES: Slides and lecture notes for public lectures on presidential nominations, partisan politics and other subjects.
