New Year, New Westlaw Password

In the spirit of making changes in the New Year, Westlaw just announced they are requiring all users to reset their passwords. Unless you created your account or changed your password after October 7, 2014, you must change your password by January 12 to avoid being temporarily locked out of Westlaw and TWEN.

If you’re still riding the New Year’s waive of being proactive in all endeavors, follow these steps to change your password before Monday, January 12:

  1. Log into
  2. Click the blue Update link to the right of your name
  3. Then click the blue  Manage OnePass Profile button
  4. Enter and re-enter a new password
  5. Click the Save button

If you do not change your password by Monday, January 12, your old password will cease to work on Tuesday, January 13. Don’t stress too much though, because restoring access is easy.  Just click the “forgot password” link on the Westlaw login page, and you’ll be taken through the password reset process to get you into the account.

The library will have reduced hours during the holiday break and will be closed from December 24th until January 2nd. Standard operating hours resume on January 10th. To view a complete list of hours, please visit our calendar. The holiday hours are as follows:

Building Access Williams:
December 22nd through 23rd: 9am – 5pm
December 24th through January 1st: CLOSED
January 2nd through January 9th: 7am – 10pm

Building Access Wolff:
December 22nd through 23rd: 9am – 5pm
December 24th through January 1st: CLOSED
January 2nd through January 3rd: 9am – 5pm
January 4th: 10am – 8pm
January 5th through January 9th: 8 am – 10pm

Reference Services Williams:
December 22nd through January 1st: CLOSED
January 2nd: 9am – 5pm
January 3rd through 4th: CLOSED
January 5th through January 9th: 9am – 5pm

Reference Services Wolff:
December 22nd through January 4th: CLOSED
January 5th through January 9th: 11am – 5pm


Lexis Advance Registration Moratorium

During next week’s update to Lexis Advance, there will be a “quiet period” during which users will not be able to register or use Lexis Advance for the first time.  This period will be from Friday, February 7 to Tuesday, February 18. The “quiet period” will not affect users who have registered and logged into Lexis Advance prior to February 7. During this time, generic Georgetown IDs will be made available to allow students to use Lexis Advance temporarily. If you need a temporary ID, please email Carla Wale at or stop by the reference desk in Williams or Wolff.

TWEN Outage: Access Restored

This is an updated post: TWEN access through should now be restored.

The site will be down for maintenance for a brief time this weekend. When users go to the site during the outage, they will see a message notifying them of site maintenance and offering a link to research sites.  This will not impact the ability to log in to WestlawNext or Westlaw Classic directly; however, users will not be able to access TWEN during this time. The outage will last approximately 30 to 60 minutes some time between 11:00 p.m. EDT October 5th (Saturday) and 7:00 a.m. EDT October 6th (Sunday).
