Epocrates Essentials

Epocrates, a highly regarded all-in-one clinical drug and diagnostic tool, is now available for all Georgetown University affiliates courtesy of Dahlgren Memorial Library.

Highlights include:

  • Point-of-care drug reference
  • Drug interaction checker
  • Pill identifier, pill pictures
  • Health plan formularies
  • Alternative (herbal) medicines
  • Diagnostic and laboratory tests
  • Disease conditions and topics

Epocrates can be utilized two different ways:

  1. Use Epocrates Online via a web browser. [NetID Required from off-campus]
  2. Use Epocrates Essentials: an iOS, Android, or BlackBerry app downloaded from via the DML site [NetID Required].

Mobile Natural Standard

Natural Standard is now available on your mobile device. It works on Android, Blackberry, iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, and others. Before you get started, you will need the free Skyscape Medical Resources app. Here are installation instructions for Natural Standard:

  1. Open this link: http://www.skyscape.com/natstd/georgetown
  2. Enter your name and Georgetown email address
  3. Check your email and click the hyperlink to confirm your account (you should get a serial number)
  4. On your mobile device, open the Skyscape app
  5. Tap Tools and then Install Resource
  6. Enter the Natural Standard serial number and tap continue, then Register and Install.

Micromedex 2.0

Micromedex, the clinical drug database, officially launched it’s new interface (2.0) and can be accessed through the old version by clicking the link along the top of the database’s page. Their new design intends to make finding clinical information about drugs simpler through one search box. Learn more about the new Micromedex.

The new Micromedex interface also works on the your mobile device, including the iPhone and iPod Touch using Safari, but not all tools are available. More information about mobileMicromedex can be found here or by clicking the Mobile link within Micromedex 2.0 on your computer.
