New Resource: Isabel

December 8, 2015

Isabel is a diagnosis checklist tool now available via Dahlgren Memorial Library’s Clinical Quick Reference Page

Isabel helps clinicians and students broaden their differential diagnosis and think outside the box. The web-based Isabel tool uses the patient’s age, gender, and clinical features to produce a list of possible diagnoses, including time-sensitive “Don’t Miss Diagnoses.” The Isabel system integrates other resources from DML to form a practical, organized clinical tool. It also serves as a powerful educational platform, enabling all levels of clinicians to develop and hone their clinical and diagnostic skills.

Isabel improves patient care and safety by reducing delays in diagnosis. It helps to reduce diagnostic errors due to anchoring bias and premature closure. It provides an integrated knowledge resource of DynaMed and supports training and education. The application helps to get the patient on right treatment/management plans sooner and better manages healthcare costs.

Mobile apps (iOS and Android) are available. Instructions and download links [NetID and Password required].
