Announcement: Deadline Extension for 2020-2021 Doyle Faculty Fellowship Applications

The call for 2020-2021 Doyle Faculty Fellowship is currently open, and the application deadline has been extended to Friday, April 17, 2020

The Doyle Faculty Fellowship is a 14 month cohort-based fellowship that gives full-time Georgetown faculty teaching undergraduate courses the opportunity to engage in complex discussions with their peers from different disciplines on critical topics in higher education, helping them transform their teaching in deep and varied ways. 

The cohort coalesces into a teaching community first through a series of meetings in late May, followed by design consultations with CNDLS staff in the summer. The fellows then meet monthly throughout the following academic year, starting in September. Fellows provide support and guidance to one another as they work on designing or redesigning a course in order to better engage aspects of difference, equity, and inclusion in their pedagogy. Subjects discussed during these sessions can include topics such as equitable assessment, the dynamics of social identity within the university, free speech in the classroom, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and more, but the subjects addressed are responsive to the interests of the fellows themselves. 

Faculty interested in applying for the Doyle Faculty Fellows program for the 2020-2021 academic year should send a brief letter of interest by email to doyleprogram@georgetown.edu. In the letter, please indicate:

  • The course on which you intend to focus your redesign efforts (including student audience & expected enrollment, and the semester in which you expect to teach the course)
  • The specific goals you hope to achieve by (re)designing your course as a Doyle course and the ways you envision your students engaging more intentionally with issues related to difference and equity as a result of this (re)design
  • The ways in which you hope to contribute to and benefit from the interdisciplinary community of fellows
  • Any areas of inclusive teaching, pedagogical practices, and/or topics related to difference and dialogue that you hope to explore with colleagues
