Scholarly Communication Symposium: Friday, April 12

The spring 2013 Scholarly Communication Symposium focuses on a discussion of student learning and assessment in an online environment. This comes in the context of the recent launch of a major campaign to expand Georgetown's technology-assisted learning (ITEL). This new initiative has stirred a lively discussion on campus about online learning, and particularly about models for assessment, certification, and credit in massive open online courses. Our symposium brings representatives of some key players in online education to campus, and lets them share their vision, experiences (and evidence!) with our faculty. The presentations will be followed by an open Q&A session. Speakers:

  • Lori Breslow, founding Director of the Teaching and Learning Laboratory (TLL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Inna Lisker, Associate Director of UC Berkeley Resource Center for Online Education (BRCOE)
  • John Rinderle, Associate Director of the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) at Carnegie Mellon University
Sponsor: Georgetown University Libraries: Scholarly Communication Team
April 12, 2013 10:00am-12:00pm Murray Room, Lauinger Library 5th Floor
RSVP to William Olsen, wco4@georgetown.edu
