TLISI Recap: Doyle Initiative

The Doyle Faculty Fellows Sessions at this year's TLISI were the first gatherings of the new 2011-12 Doyle fellows cohort.  The new Doyle  fellows will work together over the next 15 months to highlight issues of difference, inclusion and diversity within the regular content of their courses. The 2011-12 cohort includes 17 faculty from a wide range of disciplines across the university including Anthropology, Arabic, the Center for Language Education and Development, Chemistry, Culture & Politics, English, German, Music, Psychology, Spanish & Portuguese, Theatre, Theology, and Women's and Gender Studies. Over the two days of sessions, the fellows participated in workshops on course design and student learning goals, a panel discussion with GU Student Affairs professionals on issues of concern to students, conversations about incorporating difficult topics into the classroom, and a discussion with former Doyle fellows about their experiences. The Doyle fellows will spend part of their summer working on their Doyle course in consultation with CNDLS staff.  The cohort meets monthly starting in the fall and continuing into the spring semester. We look forward to continuing these discussions throughout the year.
