Publishing Your Book Internationally

March 25th, 2013
Publishing Your Book Internationally
A Book Publishing Information Session from the Office of Scholarly Publications, Georgetown University Press, and the Mortara Center for International Studies
Have you published a university press book in the United States that you think should also be published abroad? Then attend this information session for scholarly authors interested in a global reach. Our guest speaker will be Ms. Kalpana Shukla, a book distributor and publisher from India who was previously an editor at Macmillan India. She will discuss what your foreign rights are in a typical contract, and how one might publish a book in India or elsewhere that has already been published in the U.S. This session will go in to detail about what happens when a book gets a new foreign edition, including how it is distributed and sold, how the author gets paid if it does well, what authors should do to help their books succeed abroad, and more. There will be plenty of time for Q&A.
Whether you have already published a book and now want a foreign edition, or whether you are thinking about publishing and want to plan ahead for a more global reach, this session will help you think through the most important aspects.
